News and Information about Team Velocity Sailing

Archive for February, 2009

Team Velocity has been supported in large part by our close friends and family over the years.  This year we would like to formally recognize those who have donated to our effort.  In that spirit, we’ve opened an online paypal donation page so we can keep track of who has donated to us.  Please check out the Donate page link at the top of this page for more information.

Thank You!

I’ve been talking with Claude about this for a while.  I helped him out with the leg descriptions on the new waypoints screen (which I have to say, really looks nice).  Good work Claude – I’m digging it.

Team Velocity team member John Casey appeared on the February 7th World of Boating broadcast heard on radio stations all over the United States.

Hey everyone,

I know they’re late, but I promise its not my fault!  I received the CD in the mail the other day from James, our regular ground crewman who was incapacitated weeks prior to the race and therefore unable to serve in his regular role.  However, we found out that he’s pretty handy with a camera apparently.  He took some real gems.  Check it out:

The race has released the SI’s and the checkpoints for the 2009 Tybee 500 on their website.

I have been denying myself the need to join 2009 and jump into the social networking phenomenon that is myspace and facebook. Since we’ve had this website, I figured that I didn’t need to join any of the “build-a-site” places out there. Twitter is a bit different though. Its like trading text messages with people you know, and it works for helping keep track of when the website has been updated. So check out velocitysailing on twitter!

And what a 5th Boat it is!  I’m still so excited about this that I’m losing sleep over it.  Last week, we got confirmation that we could announce the 5th Team of the Velocity Roster.  If you go to our “The Team” page, you’ll see the two new additions.  Long time Velocity friend, competitor, and Tybee 500 champion John Casey has agreed to sail with Carrie Howe of US Olympic Yngling team fame on an F-18.  We have to thank Sailing Anarchy who helped broker and seal the deal with Carrie – and we look forward to sailing with JC and Carrie!!
